First Female referee to officiate in Bundesliga

It has never happened in the history of Bundesliga for a woman to take charge or better still officiate a football match in the Bundesliga. Although this strong former Police woman, Bibiana Steinhaus has been officiating many football matches in Germany's lower division, which was 2007/2008 season.

Bibiana Steinhaus was born on the 24 March 1979, to Steinhaus, who was also a very good referee. She played as a footballer for SV Bad Lauterberg before becoming a referee of the club MTV Engelbostel-Schulenburg and began officiating on the DFB level in 1999, refereeing matches in the Frauen-Bundesliga.

In October 2016, Bibiana was in a relationship with a famous referee known as  Howard Webb. This shows that she revolves around the world of referees, her father as a referee, a lover as a referee, and herself as a referee.


"Of course, I'm aware that I will be the first (female referee) in the Bundesliga and, especially at the beginning of the new season, will face particular attention from the public and the media," Bibiana said.

"She has earned it through very good performances – and in the end that is the most important thing," Bremen coach Alexander Nouri said in his press conference.
