Interview with Nigerian born who plays with the Vikings

Let's meet with Aniekpeno Udoh, the former Akwa United goal machine who now plays for Vikings and he’s warming up for a call-up letter from the Nigerian Super Eagles. Aniekpeno Udoh is one football player who does not discriminate, he plays with little children a lot and when he was asked why he loves going close to children instead of mingling with high-class like himself, he said; “Jesus said, until you see yourself as a little child, you will not enter into the kingdom of Heaven. Moreover, I was once a child.” Wow! What a motivating reply from the Vikings striker.

Let us move straight to the interview with the Vikings striker Aniekpeno Udoh.

1. Aniekpeno Udoh how are you doing?

Aniekpeno Udoh: I’m very fine thank you.

2. Where are you from, your country, state, and village?

Aniekpeno Udoh: I am from Nigeria, Akwa ibom state to be précised, in Essien udim Local Government Area.

3. What inspired you to take football as a career?

Aniekpeno Udoh:  Yeah…because it is what I have been dreaming about since my childhood.

4. Where did you start playing your professional football?

Aniekpeno Udoh: It was God’s favor, but I started my professional football at Akwa United Football Club, in Uyo.

5. According to the media, you won an important trophy with Akwa United FC, what can you say about it, also how did you feel?

Aniekpeno Udoh: I saw God’s favor in me, I was so happy and excited at the same time, because that was the first time Akwa United won a cup, and I was part of the success story. Every player wishes to win trophies for his Club, so God did it.

6. Why did you leave Akwa United?

Aniekpeno Udoh: Hahaha…I knew you would ask. Well, every football player dreams of playing outside

the country, to face new challenges. New challenges make one better.

7. In one year plus, you had so many fans in your hometown, how did you manage to do that?

Aniekpeno Udoh: I believe I did nothing but to play well. It’s God’s favor, I always try to carry everybody along and also to be nice to them

8. You left Akwa United to Norway, what is the name of the club you are playing for currently?

Aniekpeno Udoh: Well, I’m still in Viking, but I think I’m leaving because I don’t have the playing time.

9. Now, can you tell us how you started the journey to your greatness? A lot of youngsters out there may be looking for motivation, so please tell us your story.

Aniekpeno Udoh: I started playing my football at Enwe primary school in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, and someone saw how I played and invite me to his team... so I went there and we had a friendly match with Akwa United Football Club. In the match, I played so well and scored 2 wonderful goals. So the coach of Akwa United Football Club invited me to Akwa United Fc. That was how I started my professional career.

10. Now, what message do you have for footballers out there and those that are aspiring to play professionally?

Aniekpeno Udoh: My message is that as a football player, you just need to believe in yourself and work hard and put God first in anything you do.
