Conte Speaks on Hazard's Availability for Atletico Madrid's Clash

CHELSEA

Antonio Conte has stated that Eden Hazard is in contention to feature against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.

Hazard had an ankle injury during his international duty with Belgium in June. The Belgian subsequently missed out on our entire pre-season campaign and is yet to start a Premier League game this term.

Hazard, however, started against Nottingham Forest in a cup match, as the Premier League champions became the victor. After several substitute appearances on top of that, you would think that Hazard can’t be far away from full fitness.

Conte has revealed that Hazard could be involved at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday evening. Eurosport quote the Italian, who says:

“I think now Eden is improving a lot and for sure he’s in contention for Atletico Madrid. After a bad injury and surgery, you need time. He’s almost ready to play but if I make this decision it will be because I’m comfortable with it.”

The sooner we can get Hazard fit and firing, the better. He is undisputedly our best player and we are a different side when he is on form. If he is able to start against Atletico, we have a great chance of bringing home all three points.
