TRANSFER NEWS - Chelsea Targets Dinamo Zagreb Young Star for Solution

Chelsea transfer news

Chelsea have few days to add to their squad during the January transfer window.

Chelsea Head coach Frank Lampard has said he'd love to bring in a new forward, as his side struggle to put teams away this season.

The 21-year-old Dinamo Zagreb attacking midfielder is one of the hot cake young talents in European football after an impressive outing in the Champions League for his club this season.

Dani Olmo of Dinamo Zagreb celebrates a goal during the UEFA Champions League group C match between Dinamo Zagreb and Manchester City.

So, could the player be at Stamford Bridge by the end of the window?

Let's take a look at the latest news on the player's future below:

Who is Dani Olmo?
Olmo is one of the names being linked to few clubs at the start of the January window, but who is the midfielder?

One name that has been touted with a move to Chelsea FC is Dinamo Zagreb attacking midfielder Dani Olmo.

Sportwitness believes that Chelsea have made a 'firm offer' for the Dinamo Zagreb man, although there are no figures mentioned in the report, it is claimed that the Croatian side are after a figure of around £34 million for the 21-year-old.

"Last summer was an ideal time to take a next step," Olmo told Jugones (via Goal).

"In the end it did not happen and I said that I was equally happy because I wanted to play Champions League.

"But I think my cycle there is over and I want to take the next step to continue improving."

The player reiterated his stance in a separate interview with Catalan newspaper L’Esportiu (via the Express).

"My goal is to go to the European Championship [with Spain] and it will be difficult for me if in the next six months I’m only playing in a smaller league, like the one in Croatia," he said. "I want to take a step forward. And not only to go to the Euro, but also to keep improving.

"It’s not that I’m being offered, it's just that I’m ready to take a step forward in my career.

"They [Dinamo] are open to hearing offers and they have passed it to us."

What has his agent said?

"I send all interested clubs to Dinamo and when the clubs agree on a fee, I will come to agree on the conditions for Dani," Bara told  Sportske Novosti   (via Goal) in July.

"Dani can play for any club as he has already shown this at the Euro U21s. When we are talking about Manchester United, they have no such player as Olmo."

What do you think, if Olmo finally lands at the Bridge, will he be the saviour the Blues have been waiting for?
