Goalkeepers that frustrated Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi of Barcelona is one human being God created and designed for Football. Players of his caliber are rare to find. Football had the Likes of Maradona, Pele, George, Okocha, Ronaldinho, Zidane, Kanu, and numerous to mention, but Messi is a player out of this planet. He makes goal scoring look as if someone is just eating food, or reciting A to Z, not even having pity for the goalkeepers.

A lot of football fans have said that Lionel Messi is the greatest player that has ever featured in the game of football. Others debunk that Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest, but come to think of it, for the past eight years, Ronaldo and Messi have ruled the world of Football.

Lionel Messi has humiliated a lot of goalkeepers since he became a pro, his chipping ability when he goes one-on-one with the goalkeeper, creativity, name them, in fact, this player is really out of this planet.  

As Lionel Messi continued enjoying himself by disgracing goalkeepers, unknowing to him, few goalkeepers went for understudy on how to deny Messi of goals.

Vincent Enyeama

Vincent Enyeama of Nigeria is one of the Best Goalkeepers the Super Eagles have had. He has played in Europe and has watched Messi disgrace lots of goalkeepers, Enyeama then vowed to stop Messi.

In the Fifa world cup, 2010, Lionel Messi battled his life out just to score Vincent Enyeama, but Enyeama said ‘NO’ by punching every round object from entering the net.

Messi took free kicks, but Vincent punched it out, Messi placed the ball to the top corner of the goal post but was still denied by Vincent. After the match, which Argentina later won by a Gabriel Heinze header, Lionel Messi went to Vincent Enyeama and had a handshake.

Edwin Van Der Sar 

Edwin Van Der Sar was one of Premier League’s best shot-stopper. Manchester United fans will never forget his crucial saves.

Edwin is one of the goalkeepers who denied Messi goals and he denied Messi from qualifying to the Champions league finals 2008.

Messi tried to score Edwin both at camp nou and at Old Trafford, both couldn’t which made Barcelona miss the finals as Manchester United scored just a goal.

Petr Cech 

Petr Cech was really a terrific goalkeeper when he played for Chelsea FC. Cech put in impressive performances each time Chelsea FC played Barcelona and made sure Lionel Messi didn’t find the back of the net.

When Cech was still in Chelsea FC, they both faced each other seven times in different occasions, but legendary goalkeeper Cech denied Messi of scoring.

From the year 2006 to 2012, Petr Cech has stopped Lionel Messi from scoring Chelsea. That’s a hell of a record.
