How to Sign for a Professional Football Club

How to sign for a professional Football Club has always been a big problem for so many young football talented players. This problem has to do with ignorance of what to do, how to do, where to do, etc. In Africa, very good players have complained, cried out, sent video messages of their skills to some media representatives in other to find help, but to no avail.
Let me show you all the talented players worldwide who are ready to take football as their career how to sign for a professional football club. Now before you sign for a professional football club, they are things you need to put in place.

1. Building yourself
Before you succeed in any works of life, or before you are able to sign for a professional football club you need to build yourself. How? Building yourself means a lot. As an upcoming football player, training is very necessary. You need to join a good football academy in your locality. Mistakes many upcoming or should I say grass root football player make is to join a local football club where they do not have future plans for their players. Well, I will not blame the ignorant players, because they are/ were not properly guided, that is the reason I have come up with this article to help the young stars make the best decisions for their future. Before I hint on ‘Building yourself’ let me tell you how to find a good academy to join.
This is a modern era where even young boys and girls have better smartphones, and then what do you do with it? You have to research on the internet on a better academy and the registration fee they demand. Like some Football academies here in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, Focus Football Academy, Greater tomorrow Sports Academy, Macito, Immortality Football Academy, have all produced players who are have signed for professional football clubs in Europe, Asia, America, etc. Also Pepsi Football Academy, Sia One Academy, these are great Football Academies any young player should join and begin his journey. Note, it must not only be the above-mentioned academies but can find out better ones in your countries.
When you become a full member of any better football academy, make sure you take part in every program given by the coach or trainee. Building yourself makes you stand out. You need to do the following;
·         Embark on your personal training.
·         Avoid alcohol.
·         Avoid womanizing.
·         Be humble
For now, work on these four things mentioned above. It has never been easy to sign for a professional football club nowadays, to compare with the 80s and 90s where talent was found on the streets and invited to join a club.

2. Get an International Passport
I know you will ask if it’s really necessary to get an international passport, the answer is a big YES. The reason is, while in a good Football Academy, trials come in like rain, so as a good and promising player, you will be selected to go for trials in foreign countries. Without your international passport, you go nowhere.

3. Impress the Scouts
Clubs normally send out their scouts to go and fish for young talented players, so if you do not impress the scouts, no signing of professional football deal for you. So before you move to a particular event like football trials work hard on yourself; belief in yourself and most importantly pray to God.

A lot of players have been asking questions, so I will drop the questions below and answers as well.

How old must a player be to have a football agent?

Very important question; a player must be 16 to have a football agent. This is because to sign a representation contract with a football agent you need to be under 18, also, you must have a permission from your parent before you sign with the agent. As such, your parents will countersign the contract between you and the agent.

What is the profit of having a football agent?

The duty of a football agent is to arrange football trials for footballers, with football clubs. A football agent can hence be very functional for someone looking for a new club or someone that want to become a professional footballer. The agent is as well responsible for negotiating football playing contracts for players.

I already have a football agent; can I go to another football agent?

Sorry to say no. since you have an agent whose contract is currently running, you will wait until your representation contract with your existing football agent expires. Under FIFA regulations, you cannot come up to other football agents to represent you if you already have an agent providing you with representation services.

Another important thing you should know

Going for football trials outside the country is not that easy, truth be told. There are two ways you can embark on the football trials in other to sign for a professional football club.

No 1. You are seen by a professional club’s scout, and your expenses will be taken care of.
No 2. You are seen by a football agent, and he likes your skills and creativity and decides to take you for a football trial.

Please take note; for the first one, you will be taken care of 100%, but for the second one, all expenses will be on your head. Flight ticket fee, feeding, a place to lodge, and so on and so forth, all expenses will be on you.

I hope you really understand this.
